Your first visit
What to expect when you arrive
Your first visit is a complimentary Smile Analysis: an unhurried conversation and an orthodontic evaluation with an orthodontist. You leave knowing whether treatment makes sense for you, what the options are, and what each would involve.
There is no obligation to start treatment and no pressure to decide that day. Here is how the visit unfolds, and how to prepare.
What happens during the visit?
Arrival
Our team greets you by name, confirms a few details and makes sure you are comfortable. Family members are welcome to join you.
A conversation first
Before anything else, we listen: what you notice about your smile, what you would like to change, and any questions you have been holding on to.
Photographs and a digital scan
We take photographs and a 3D digital scan of your teeth, with no putty tray and no waiting for a mold to set. You can watch your own teeth appear on the screen.
The evaluation
Your orthodontist examines your teeth, bite and jaws and reviews the records with you, in plain words.
Your options
You hear whether treatment would help now, later or not at all, and which approaches suit your teeth, with the trade-offs of each.
A written plan, if you want one
If treatment is recommended, you receive a written plan covering the approach, an estimated timeline, your insurance benefits and how payment works. You take the time you need to decide.
What should I bring?
- Your dental insurance card, if you have one.
- A list of medications and any health conditions.
- Your questions, written down, so you leave with every one answered.
- For a child or teen: a parent or legal guardian.
Which forms do I complete first?
Completing your new patient forms before your visit means more of your time is spent on your questions and less on paperwork. After you reserve, we send you a secure link to your forms. If you would like help with them, call or text us and we will be glad to help.
Will I feel anything?
Visits are planned so you are not kept waiting and not rushed. Every step is explained before it happens, and you are welcome to pause and ask a question at any point.
Orthodontic treatment can bring some pressure and tenderness for a few days at the start and after adjustments. We tell you honestly what to expect and how to stay comfortable, rather than promising it will not be felt at all.
Questions we are often asked
Is the first visit complimentary?
Yes. The Smile Analysis is complimentary, and there is no obligation to begin treatment.
Can I bring my child and ask about myself too?
Of course. Let us know when you reserve so we plan enough time for everyone.
Will I find out the cost?
If treatment is recommended, you receive a written explanation of fees, your insurance benefits and payment options before you decide.
